Valve Dealers In Chennai
Valves, Use and Functions
Many industries use specialized
valves called pinch valves to control liquids, wastewater, abrasives, slurries,
and corrosive chemicals. Valves are devices or natural objects that are used
for regulating or controlling the flow of fluids (gases, liquids, fluidized
solids, or slurries) by opening, closing, or partially blocking different passages.
Valves are technically fittings but are usually treated as a separate category.
Functions of a Valve
·
On/off - Starts or stops flow in the system.
·
Flow control- Regulate the flow.
·
Directional flow - Determines flow direction.
·
Overpressure protection - Safely relieve system pressure when
there is a spike in pressure
Common valve types are ball, check,
diaphragm, butterfly, pinch, spool, gate, ball, knife, parallel, plug, and gate
valves. Most industrial valves are made from stainless steel, brass or bronze,
ductile iron, Inconel, and Monel. A true quarter-turn valve is fully closed at
0° and fully open at 90°. Examples of quarter-turn valves include ball valves,
plug valves, and butterfly valves, etc. An actuated valve uses a mechanical
device called an "actuator" to use an energy source such as
compressed air or electricity to actuate the valve.
